Meet Edible Garden Design Expert, Mitch

Hi, I’m Mitch – owner of Patch to Plate Living. I am an enthusiastic and passionate food grower, edible landscaper, designer and fermenter.

My journey into food growing began in the stunning Berkshire farms of Connecticut, USA, where my love for the great outdoors, sustainability, and delicious food really took root.

When I returned to Australia, armed with all my new-found knowledge, I started the Adamama Urban Farm in Paddington, turning it into a vibrant urban farm for the community, schools, and educational programs.

Partnering with local Sydney councils, I also professionally ran edible garden design courses, coordinated volunteer groups and managed the permaculture gardens at the Randwick Sustainability Hub.

I’ve had the joy of designing edible gardens for schools, disability centres, aged care facilities, and family homes, always keeping sustainability and permaculture principles at heart.

What drives me is the absolute joy I see on people’s faces when they learn about how their food is grown, and get to taste what they’ve harvested. Most importantly, I love working closely with clients to figure out the best way to bring an edible garden into their lives.

Whether it’s a tiny herb garden on a balcony, a sensory play area for kids, or a raised bed filled with tomatoes and cucumbers for those summer salads, I’m here to show that everyone can have a patch of nature to call their own.

This is my Urban Homestead (backyard) at home in Botany. Chooks, fruit trees, seasonals and perennials. Designed for high yields, healthy soils and living ecosystems.

The Patch to Plate Living Difference

At Patch to Plate Living, we're all about getting our hands dirty in the best way possible, making sure your veggie garden fits into your daily routine. Mitch is your go-to edible garden & permaculture expert, with bucket-loads of experience in turning even the tiniest of spaces into thriving veggie patches.

But here’s our difference: Mitch doesn’t just throw advice your way or plan you an edible garden design and call it a day. His goal is to properly equip you with the confidence and skills to keep your edible garden flourishing on your own terms.

While gardeners and horticulturalists are great for ornamental gardens, few have the know-how to really make a backyard veggie patch thrive. That’s where we come in: bridging the gap with expertise not just in gardening, but in creating spaces that feed both body and soul.

Whether you’re facing challenges in your current veggie garden, dreaming of adding some green to your balcony, or anywhere in between, we can help.
